Among the components of the BSE BANKEX index, HDFC Bank Ltd (up 2.39%), ICICI Bank Ltd (up 0.25%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd (up 0.19%), and Bank of Baroda (up 0.08%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, Yes Bank Ltd (down 2.79%), IndusInd Bank Ltd (down 2.32%), and Canara Bank (down 1.72%) moved lower.

At 09:47 IST, the BSE SmallCap was down 775.95 or 1.63% at 46718.16.

The BSE 150 MidCap Index index was down 246.69 points or 1.7% at 14246.05.

The Nifty 50 index was down 187.85 points or 0.81% at 23062.25.

The BSE Sensex index was down 430.52 points or 0.56% at 75864.84.

On BSE,989 shares were trading in green, 2091 were trading in red and 119 were unchanged.
