Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could fall 23 points at the opening bell.

Overseas, Asian stocks were trading lower ahead of a slew of key earnings reports this week. Most US equities fell yesterday, 22 October 2018, with financial and commodity shares pacing losses.

Back home, key domestic equity benchmarks declined for third day in a row amid volatility, dragged by Reliance Industries, IndusInd Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank. The Sensex fell 181.25 points or 0.53% to settle at 34,134.38.

The trading activity on that day showed that the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 511.91 crore yesterday, 22 October 2018, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 303.21 crore yesterday, 22 October 2018, as per provisional data.

Among corporate news, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone, Ambuja Cements and HCL Technologies will unveil their September quarterly results today, 23 October 2018.

On a consolidated basis, Asian Paints' net profit fell 14.77% to Rs 506 crore on 8.76% increase in net sales to Rs 4639.05 crore in Q2 September 2018 over Q2 September 2017. The result was announced after market hours yesterday, 22 October 2018.
